The Winchester Mystery House is located in the heart of San Jose. Laurie and I visited the Winchester House on our way to Carson City to visit my aunt. We had a few hours to kill before we needed to be there. It gave us a chance to visit this truly eccentric house of a truly eccentric person - Winchester Mystery House San Jose
In 1884, a wealthy widow name Sarah L. Winchester began a construction project of such magnitude that it was to occupy the lives of carpenters and craftsmen until her death thirty-eight years later. The Victorian mansion, designed and build by the Winchester Rifle heiress, is filled with so many unexplained oddities, that it has come be known as the Winchester Mystery House.
We took the Winchester Mystery House "Behind the Scenes" tour. It lasted an hour and was packed with a lot of information and opportunities for pictures. This was the only way to walk through the Winchester House.
