My Day With The Spice Girls
It was a day like any other except, of course, the Spice Girls were in town.
As anyone can tell you, I'm the biggest Spice Girl fan. There has to be something to this
Girl Power philosophy. An essence that we should all embrace
and, for anyone who knows me, I'm into embracing.
Anyways, my friend, Aaron Holbrook and I
decided to leave work early and head down to the
Chinese Mann Theatre where the Spice Girls were celebrating their American premiere
of Spice
World. (You must
see this movie. It's the only movie that can possibly topple Titanic.)
As we stood in line for 3
hours, we got to converse with fellow Spice fans. It's
hard to believe the some things as special as this can join people (mostly women)
of all colors (mostly white) and age (mostly teenagers) together in a bond of
unity.
It was 4:00 pm and we were next in line. I scrambled to think of what I was
going to say to these fabulous women. I didn't have to say anything. They knew
what Girl Power meant to me. They simply asked me to tell them what I wanted.
What I really, really wanted. I told them I wanted a picture with them and they
said "yes."
Aaron and I got into the pose. The girls came around and we said "Cheese."
Afterward I hugged Baby Spice and Scary Spice immediately pinched my butt.
It's a day I'll never forget for as long as I live. |
