The Democrat's Biggest Problem

I'm pretty clear when it comes to my political party affiliation. I'm a Republican. Furthermore I'm a conservative. I know why I am this way. I believe in individual choices. I believe the problems of this society is best solved by local communities and not by the federal government. I'm for smaller national government and more local accountability. I believe in the American Dream and the role of government is to make sure that everyone has a reasonable shot at reaching this dream.

My question is "what the hell do Democrats believe in?"

Here is what is clear to me: Democrats believe in the exact opposite of Republicans. Their sole existence is solely based on needing to be the antithesis of Republicans. The best example of this was the last presidential campaign. John Kerry basic message was that "I'm not George Bush. Look at what a bad job he's done as president. I won't do a bad job. Vote for me."

When pressed to ask what he'd do about any issue, he'd basically say, I won't do what George Bush would do and then quote a bunch of statistics that we all know don't mean a whole lot.

Look at their campaign ads and you'll see that the message is "look at what an evil person my Republican opponent is. I'm not that person, vote for me." Where is the substance? Ask a Democrat what a Republican believe and they'll give you a laundry list of things they don't like about Republicans. It's interesting that they have a laundry list because we know what Republicans believe. But what is also interesting is that they can't tell you why they are a Democrat. They can only tell you why they aren't a Republican.

Pandering

How is it that Democrats have been so successful? The first was to vilify the opposition. The second is pandering.

The basic definition of pandering is when addressing a specific group of people during a campaign, speak only to the needs of this group and when addressing another group, speak to their needs - even if the promises made to each group contradicts the promises made to another.

For example, to minority groups (especially African Americans) Democrats are their savior and the only party willing to fight for their civil rights, but at the same support programs designed to keep minorities dependent upon government programs, such as welfare.

We are now staring to see the erosion of the Democrats minority base. You can still say that you'll keep government programs running but the cost of these programs are making it difficult for minority to start their own businesses.

In fact, I was listening to a radio interview with a Los Angeles minority leader and he said that all Democrats want from the African American community is for them to talk about civil rights issues only. They don't care that they minorities have issues with high tax rates. Watch any news program and anytime you see an African American or other minority, they are there only to talk about race relations. Isn't that racist in and of itself?

The Problem with Minority Success

Democrats have one one support base and it is groups that feel they have been victims of Republican "greed." These groups include women, minorities, unions, gays, illegal aliens and the poor.

The fear of Democrats if any of these groups succeed and become self-reliant, then they will become Republicans. This is true. For instance, if an African American with the desire to become successful wants to start a business, he faces many hurdles to open this business mostly through taxes and bureaucracy.

My point is that it is in the best interest for Democrats to keep the poor poor. To keep all minorities groups oppressed. To never see gays married and for unions to always be on the brink of dissolving.

Why? Democrats power is based on dependence. These groups are dependent upon the government to provide for them. To them, government is the parent who provides everything for the children. Imagine what would happen if any of these groups succeeded and achieved their indepenced. They no longer need the government, let alone the Democrats, to take care of them. Larry Elder refers to these groups as "victicrats." These groups have become dependent upon their victim status that they soon lose their identities once independence is achieved.

Democrats have no solution because if they had a solution their power-base would diminish. They believe that Republicans are racist, when in fact it is the Democrat who is the closet racist. Because it would destroy the party of any minority group ever succeeded.

In fact the only minority success stories are only about people who have overcome a racist situations. You'll never hear a Democrat applaud a minority who is successful in the area of business or science.

Here's a great example? Who is the second most powerful person in the world? The first is the president. The second certainly isn't the vice president. Some would argue, it's the Secretary of State. Colin Powell was the last Secretary of State - African American. You'll never see him at a NAACP rally. The current Secretary of State is Condoleeza Rice. She's African American and a woman. Again, will never be invited to an NAACP event and definitely not at the next NOW convention.

Instead of applauding her as a woman who overcame all obstacles to become one of the most power women in the world, she vilified as a Bush "Yes"-Man and will never been recognized as a great minority success story.

The California Example

California is the best example of Democrats gone wrong. For almost eight years, California had a Democrat in every major state political office. Basically they were calling the shots. How much did California improve? Not at all. In fact California got worse. Any success was cloaked behind the dot com debacle.

The problem was that all Democrats did was increase the amount of bureaucracy, thus making it harder and more expensive to run a business. They increased the size of state social programs, making it more expensive to operate and as with anything run by the government, they are hugely wasteful and ineffective. The result is that the only way to pay for these programs is to raise taxes, thus they tripled the car tax. A tax that hit everyone poor and rich.

The ultimate result was the exodus of businesses to other states, like Nevada. The decrease in new businesses in California and California citizens moving to other states because the cost of living is so low in comparison.

Democrats have no vision. They have no plan to saving California or the United States. They continue to pander to victim groups with the tired, hopeless message of "We're Not Republicans."
