President Bush and Hurricane Katrina

I will say one thing about Democrats. They sure know how to make the media work for them.

Through the media they have convinced the nation that President Bush was asleep at the wheel for not reacting instantly to the devastation of hurricane Katrina. Katrina was devastating and donating to the Salvation Army is a great idea.

The problem is that the media is blaming the entire mess on President Bush. I’m surprised no one has stating that the hurricane would not have happened if it weren’t for the President’s environmental policy.

What I am hearing is that thousands of people have died, been raped or beaten because the President didn’t act fast enough. Looting occurred because the National Guard was in Iraq. Rather than thinking rationally and making attempts to help, Democrats have decided to politicize a natural disaster to attack Republicans.

I’ve seen headlines on the newswire to the effect that the response to the hurricane will hurt Bush and any Republican running for office. Talk about exploiting a national tragedy for the sake of votes. Good job Democrats.

Timely Response

Let’s put this into proper perspective. Was the President’s late response an act of negligence? I'm going to submit to you that the answer is NO!

Hurricanes are a natural occurrence in the United States. We have several hurricanes and tropical storms in the southeast every year. It's gotten to the point where we just expect them. In fact, for every hurricane that has happened in my lifetime, I can't recall a President holed up in the Oval Office ready to react. In fact, hundreds of people decided not to leave New Orleans and decided to weather the storm. Why, because this happens every year.

The point I want to make is that no one expected the true damage Katrina could cause. When New Orleans did get hit, the initial damage was bad, but slowly got worse over time. The flooding didn't occur immediately. It happened slowly over several hours. The reason no one reacted in a timely matter was because no one realized the true damage that occurred when the levies broke.

I hear Democrats stating that if they were in charge, they would have gotten food and water there instantly. Except for the fact that people were shooting at helicopters. Democrats say they would have gotten the National Guard in earlier. The problem is that you just don't send troop into a volatile situation without a plan and we all know that Democrats have no plans. In fact, Democrats would never allow law enforcement to use lethal force against looters because that would be racism.

The Looters and Rapists

Now we are blaming the President for the looting and raping. Somehow if the President had reacted sooner, the people would never have rioted. Give me a break. These people are evil and to say that it was the President's economic policies that cause people to commit crime.

Democrats think Republicans are evil. Let's think for a second. The people who were looting and raping in New Orleans. Do they fit the profile of a Republican or a Democrat. I'll leave this question unanswered.

Please America. Let's concentrate on helping people in need and leave the politics behind us.
