It's important to remember that this is the top ten movies I've seen. There
are still a bunch of movies I have yet to see. I'm sure after seeing them, my
list would change.
10. Conspiracy Theory
This was a tough one. The top nine came to me easy, it was the tenth movie
that I could think about. I like this movie because of Mel and Patrick. The
captain was evil and creepy evil. Mel was weird, creepy wierd. Lot's of good
twists and turns. Click here to purchase Conspiracy Theory.
9. The Full Monty
Excellent movie about male strippers. What I liked was the fact that these
men were everyday men, who needed money and would strip for it. It was like
imaging your dad or even myself having to do this. I was caught up in the
apprehension and fun and having to strip. Click here to purchase The Full Monty.
8. Amistad
Good historical drama. I've always been ambivalent about historical films
because they've seem too episodic. Amistad was an excellent example of
storytelling. I also appreciated the explanation of the gospel near the middle
of the movie. Click here to purchase Amistad - DTS.
7. Titanic
I've always been one for the underdog. Titanic is not an underdog. It's an
epic film and will probably win Best Picture. I personally don't think it should
win. Having said that, Titanic is an excellent film. For its 3 ½ hours, I was
captivated all the way through. Wonderful love story and excellent retelling of
the fateful cruse. But I like others better. Click here to purchase Titanic.
6. The Apostle
I saw this one last weekend and it was very good. It dragged at times a
wonderful film none the less. Robert Duvall portrayed a complete original and
accurate Pentecostal evangelist. He has flaws, but definitely knows what he was
meant to be. Go see this film. Click here to purchase The Apostle.
5. LA Confidential
What do I look for in movies? Entertainment and story. For me entertainment
often supersedes stories. LA Confidential is definitely a great story.
Characters interweaving until finally the crime is solved. Kevin Spacey is great
as usual. Click here to purchase L.A. Confidential.
4. My Best Friend's Wedding
Funny, Funny, Funny!!! The first movie I bought on DVD. As a single person, I
really identified with the ultimate search for the perfect one and the fear of
telling someone how we feel. It's the movies that I connect with that I really
enjoy. Click here to purchase My Best Friend's Wedding.
3. Austin Powers
Funny, Funny, Funny, Funny!!! The top three films are the movies that I've
seen twice (willingly). Austin Powers is a smart spoof of James Bond spy movies.
It's hilarious, smart and Elizabeth Hurley is a babe. You must see this movie.
Click here to purchase Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.
2. The Rainmaker
What I liked about Rainmaker was that there were no car chases, gun fights
and no one is killed by organized crime. Rainmaker is about a recently graduated
law student who has a great deal of idealism and a desire to see the underdog
win. The centers around a insurance case but the side cases are just as
important in developing the main character. Click here to purchase The Rainmaker.
1. Good Will Hunting
Remember, it's the movies that I connect with that I really enjoy. Good Will
Hunting is exactly that movie. A story about a brilliant man hiding behind his
insecurities and never really exploring his real potential in life and in love.
There is foul language and a scene of crude sexual humor. Once you get beyond
that you have a thought provoking film. Click here to purchase Good Will Hunting - Collector's Edition.
